The Sparling Model FM142 Waterworks Open Channel Intake Flowmeter

Economical and easily installed, Sparling’s Model FM142 & FM144 Waterworks Open Channel Intake Flow Meter is designed for large volume fluid flow measurement at the discharge end of a closed conduit, inverted siphon or reservoir. The meter can generally be mounted on existing structures.

Propeller Design to Minimize Maintenance

The propeller is made of a tough , durable, abrasion-resistant material. The conical shape and the ability of the material to flex under stress allows the propeller to shed debris such as clumps of algae or rags without damage.

The wetted drop pipe, propeller shaft, and bearing housing are rugged brass or steel castings that are designed to provide many years of trouble-free service. Materials used in the construction of this durable open channel intake flow meter are resistant to normal water corrosion.

The meter propeller is installed fully submerged and facing the center of the flow at the discharge end of the pipe, closed conduit, or inverted siphon. It is suspended from a pipe column attached to a wall or simple support structure. Concrete pipe or a simple culvert structure acts as a meter tube.
