Sparling MainLine Propeller Meters are designed to provide accurate, reliable flow measurement in main line service applications. Many units have been in service for 25, 30, even 40 years with only minor service!
All Sparling propeller meters have an accuracy of ±2% of rate,
guaranteed by certified wet calibration at three test points in Sparling's
NIST traceable hydraulic flow labs.
Registration is furnished in any standard Engineering Unit required.
Sparling MainLine Meters are easily maintained with standard tools
Meters feature sturdy cast or fabricated steel construction
Totalizer is protected by cast metal enclosure with locking hasp
The MainLine meter comes in three basic drive types:
Model 102/182 - Direct Drive Meters
Model 103/183 - Magnetic Drive Meters
NEW Model 104/184 - Electronic Propeller Meter

The
Sparling Model 104/184 - Electronic Flowmeter
Features magnetic pickups to electronically track rate and total
The
Sparling Model 102/182 - Direct Drive
Accurately measures over a wide flow range of
10:1 or greater. This meter uses a precision ground worm gear, hardened to Rockwell
C-60. Meters are available with factory fabricated
tubes, saddles, or as meterhead only assemblies in sizes up to
72"
The
Sparling Model 103 - Magnetic Worm Gear
Features a "magnetic worm gear" (sizes 2" -
14") where magnets are embedded in the propeller shaft
creating a field which acts on similar magnets in the vertical
shaft. The purpose is to isolate the gearbox from the flowstream.
Sand, grit flushes through the propeller harmlessly.
The Sparling
Model 183 - Magnetic
Coupling
Features magnetic coupling (16"-30") eliminating
sealing problems and permitting complete sealing of the output
section of the flow stream. Propeller movement is transmitted
through six, pole radial Alnico magnets which eliminates
mechanical wear and extra load that a mechanically driven gear
imposes on a shaft. Reduced load on the propeller shaft means longer wear for the propeller
bearings, and longer intervals between maintenance. Another plus,
unlike some magnetic propeller meters, Sparling's meter won't jam
or "stutter" under rapid accelleration.
