Hot-Tap Removable Electrodes

New Removable Electrode Option for Magnetic Flow Meters

12/5/96 -- Sparling Instruments, Inc., a leading manufacturer of flow and level measurement devices since 1919 is proud to add HOT-TAP REMOVABLE ELECTRODES to their list of options for the TigermagTM and TigermagEPTM magnetic flowmeters.

With hot-tap removable electrodes, system shut-down is no longer a requirement for electrode maintenance. This is especially useful in mining slurries, raw sewage or sludge lines where periodic inspection of electrodes for wear or damage might be required and removing the meter from service is neither convenient or practical.

The hot-tap electrode design not only allows the replacement of the electrodes, but is designed to enable withdrawl of the electrodes from the process fluid without stopping the flow, or depressurizing the line. There is no loss of flow signal during maintenance checks with Sparling's hot-tap design. The hot-tap housing functions as an auxillary electrode sending important flow data even after the electrode has been removed. The electrode assembly is sealed with multiple o-rings to maintain isolation from the pressurized medium. No special tools are required.
